League Match
Sporting Barum
3 Bude 8
Bude looked comfortable in the
first half taking the lead after 10 minutes, a long throw-in from James
Watson was flicked on at the near post and right back Glen Bickle
arrived at the back to smash in from 6 yards out for his 49th career
goal. Bude doubled their lead 10 minutes later, Ian Marks struck
from 20 yards and hit the top of the cross bar, as it came down Marks
reacted to head in the rebound. It was soon three nil, a Marks free kick
played deep in to the box found John Clayton who nodded in from close
range.
Bude increased the lead early in the second half, a mis-placed pass back
from a Sporting player saw Steve Thompson appreciate the error to take
the keeper and slot in to an empty net. Sporting pulled one back,
a long free kick was flicked on in the Bude box to beat defenders and
keeper Phil Constable. Bude scored next with Clayton looping a shot in
the far right corner, before Sporting again pulled a goal back, Lee
Wheeler scoring from close range, Clayton again pulled Bude away again
running through to strike for his hat-trick and soon grabbed his fourth
and Budes seventh. Sporting were reduced to ten men when a
substitute was yellow carded for hand ball and minutes later pulled a
Bude striker back when he was through on goal. Sporting kept
battling though and scored a third when against the run of play they got
down the left hand side and crossed low in to the box, the ball wasn't
cleared and it fell nicely to Wheeler to score his second of the game.
Bude wrapped the game up late on when Joel Roberts beat the Sporting
offside trap down the right, cut inside and slid his shot in to the far
left corner.
