League Match
Northam Lions
3 Bude 3
Bude snatched a point late on in
the game after taking the lead early in the second half. The first half
was goalless in a very even 45 minutes, Bude were not playing the
flowing football they showed in their previous game with centre back
Liam Sandercock coming closest midway through the half when a close
range shot was superbly saved by the lively Northam keeper. Bude
started the second half much brighter and Jason Stewart was instantly
put through down the right and an early shot was dragged wide of the far
left post. Bude took the lead after 50 minutes, a quick Steve Hackett
throw was played back to him and an early cross to the near post saw
striker John Clayton nip past his defender to flick in. Northam soon
came back and equalised when a low Gavin Souch strike just outside the
box found its way through the keepers legs. Budes heads dropped
and Northam increased their pressure and deservedly took the lead when
Robbie Crump scored fro inside the box. They extended their
lead after 70 minutes when Brian Leverick was put through on goal and
his lob over the outcoming keeper dipped under the bar and in to the
back of the net. Bude made changes and brought Jordan White and Ian
Marks in to the mix and both made immediate impacts. Bude reduced the
arrears just after 80 minutes, a deep cross in to the box from Gary
Hodgson was cleared by the defenders and White reacted first to strike
the loose ball in past the keeper. Marks had a shot, superbly
saved again by the keeper low to his left, but in the last minute, White
played a through ball to Hodgson who was brought down in the box and
Marks this time had the better of the keeper as he slotted the spot kick
in to the corner.
