League Match
High
Bickington 1
Bude 4
After losing their first three
games Bude have now won their last 3 games after this victory over a
strong Bickington side. Bude created the early chances with Stevie
Thompson coming close after being put through one on one and John
Clayton also having an effort go just wide of the post. Midway
through the half Bude were awarded a penalty after Jason Stewart got
caught on the edge of the box, player/manager Ian Marks slotted the kick
in to the corner but the referee blew for a player encroaching the area,
but instead of having the kick retaken he gave the home side a goal kick
to the astonishment of the Bude players. Although the hosts had their
fair share of the play they only created one of two good chances, their
best a shot from a corner which was headed off the line by James Bromell.
Bude took the lead early in the second half, a long through ball from
Josh Allen, played in Thompson who ran on and slid his shot in to the
bottom left hand corner. High Bickington soon equalised, some good
work on the left saw a low cross in to the box found Dan Squires who
flicked the ball in to the far corner. Bude reacted well and upped
their game soon taking the lead again after 70 minutes, this time
Clayton being put through and he neatly lifted the ball over the
outcoming keeper. The game was effectively over 5 minutes later
when Bude got their third. A free kick from Marks saw Clayton get in
between two defenders to head back up in to the air, Gary Hodgson saw
the ball come down and volleyed low in to the bottom left hand corner.
With 5 minutes to go Bude netted their fourth with the move of the
match, a ball up to Allen saw a one two with Alex Crossman and Allen
laid the ball into Claytons path who shot early in the far right hand
corner.
