League Match
Equalizers 2 Bude
5
Bude started this league match
well scoring in the first 5 minutes, a long kick from keeper Phil
Constable saw striker Stevie Thompson flick in to the path of strike
partner John Clayton who took the keeper and slotted in to an empty net.
After 20 mins they went two nil up, Gary Hodgson laid in to Thompson who
turned quickly on the edge of the box and an early strike flew in to the
bottom right corner. Equalizers slowly got back in to the game and
pulled one back just before half time, Bude failed to clear a corner and
some scrappy play final saw the ball poked in from close range.
Bude increased their lead immediately after the break with the move of
the match, various players were involved in the ball being knocked
around about a dozen times before being played through to Clayton who
won the ball between defender and goalkeeper and again had the simplest
of finishes with an open goal in front of him. The home team
rolled up their sleeves and got straight back at Bude putting the
visitors under enormous pressure, Bude were doing their best to suppress
the threat but finally saw a superb left foot strike from the edge of
the box find the back of the net. Minutes later another Equalizers
strike brushed the far left hand post. The luck was with Bude and
against the run of play they increased their lead to two goals, a corner
from Ian Marks saw it cleared straight back to him, Marks then looked up
and curled the ball from an acute angle straight in to the far top
corner. Budes' defence continued to work hard dealing with the
Equalizers attacks and in the final minutes Bude put the game to rest.
A Marks free kick, wide on the left was fired in low towards the near
post and the ball went right through everyone and nestled itself low in
the far corner.
