League Match
Combe Martin
2 Bude 4
The home side started well and
soon went one nil up when a cross from the left was headed in from the
Combe Martin striker. Bude started to settle after their long journey
and started playing some nice football on a difficult pitch. After
20 minutes Bude were level, a Jason Stewart corner was met with the head
of John Clayton who scored from 6 yards out. Bude took the lead
after half an hour when Steve Thompson was hauled down in the box,
Stewart smashed the spot kick in to the roof of the net. Bude
looked to be in control when early in the second half they extended
their lead with the goal of the game, the ball dropped from the air to
Clayton who struck a sweet volley from 30 yards out straight down the
middle and over the home keepers reaches. In the 80th minute the
lead was reduced when similar to their first goal, they broke down the
left hand side and a decent cross in to the box was again met with the
head of their striker. Bude were just about holding on when in the final
minutes they again got the two goal cushion, Clayton broke clear of the
defence, rounded the keeper and tapped in to an empty net.
