League Match
Bude 5 V
Kilkhampton 1
A great crowd turned out for
this Boxing Day local clash and it didn't disappoint with an expected
physical and entertaining game. It was a fairly even first half with
Bude getting slightly the better chances. It was Kilk however who
opened the scoring after 20 minutes, a corner from the right was
partially headed away by defender Liam Sandercock, but it fell nicely to
Wayne Jeffery who hit a sweet left foot volley down the middle of the
goal. Bude reacted and were soon level, a one two out on the right
by James Bromell and Jason Stewart, put Bromell clear down the right and
an early low cross to the edge of the box was met by Jordan White whose
first time shot was curled low in to the bottom right corner.
After 35 minutes Bude won a penalty, Kilks' Chris Ward brought down John
Clayton inside the box, but Ian Marks' spot kick was well saved by the
Kilk keeper.
Bude came out much stronger in the second half and soon took the lead
when the ball fell inside the Kilk box and Marks this time got on the
score sheet reacting to the loose ball and hit a shot low in to the
bottom left corner. Marks' then made it three to Bude scoring
directly from a superb 25 yard free kick. Kilk started to tire as
the game went on and Bude took complete control, their fourth came from
a Gary Hodgson shot which was saved by the keeper, but it was saved
straight on to the head of White who headed back in off the underside of
the crossbar. Whites' superb game was capped off when he was put through
on goal down the left, the keeper started to come but was in no mans
land as White neatly chipped the ball over him and in to an empty net.
