Another important win against Combe Martin who are one of just two teams who are below Bude.  Bude controlled most of the game and showed their intent early on when an effort from Anthony Giodarni was saved by the keeper in the opening minutes. Although controlling the half they couldn't turn possession in to goals. It was early in the second half when they opened the scoring, a quick free kick from Tommy Statton played in to John Clayton was quickly squared to Steve Thompson who from the edge of the box smashed the ball down the middle of the goal. Thompson soon grabbed his second cutting in from the left and placing a low shot in to the bottom right corner.  When Thompson was through one on one he thought he had grabbed his third when he lobbed the outcoming keeper but the ball bounced off the cross bar.  Budes third came after 75 minutes when a deep kick from Ian Marks was pumped up front,  the keeper mid judged it as he came out to meet it and it bounced right over him and Clayton nipped in behind to slide it in.  Budes fourth came in the final minutes and Thompson finally got his hat trick with a close range effort.
