League Match
Barnstaple
3 Bude 2
This game was only 5 minutes old
and was nearly abandoned, Bude were awarded a penalty after a player
slipped inside the box and a penalty was given. Ian Marks spot kick was
saved by the keeper, but within a minute another penalty was given by
the ref when a shoulder charge, again never a penalty but the ref
pointed to the spot again. The home side went mental and rightly so
really, a player got booked and another was threatened to be sent off
before the referee walked off himself, he eventually came back and
decided to continue. The keeper again saved the now lately taken
penalty, but Marks scored with the rebound.
The home team equalised midway through the half, a cross from the right,
hit a strikers leg, he didn't know much about it as it flew in to the
bottom corner. Bude took the lead when Liam Sandercock headed in a
cross with a bit of help from the keeper. Barnstaple reacted to the
difficult conditions that were making the pitch almost unplayable and
soon equalised when a striker received a through ball, but the flag
stayed down as he looked yards offside but went on and scored.
Barnstaple won the game after 75 minutes when a cross from the right,
came under the crossbar and keeper Gary Dinshaw let slip the ball back
over the goal line.
