Friendly Match
Morwenstow Res
2 Bude Reserves 2
This was Budes first friendly of
the new season and the very first game for new manager Ian ' Oz' Marks.
Ian fielded a strong starting line up which included the almost
forgotten Gary Hodgson who made his return to football after a 16 month
injured absence, along with various new faces. Bude were on top in
the early stages causing Morwenstow problems at the back winning various
free kicks and corners. It was a corner from the right which picked out
defender Josh Allen at the back who took a swipe at the ball, missed,
but was allowed another go and shot in to the far corner. Allen
was rock solid in the centre of defence not missing a header all evening
with the help of Rich Suttie. Morwenstow came out in the second half a
more determined team and won a penalty early on when Rich Suttie pulled
a Moostow player to ground in the box. The penalty was easily
tucked away by Jenks. With various changes being made throughout
the half by both teams it was Moostow who seemed better equipped and a
superb strike just outside the box after 75 mins saw the home team take
the lead. Bude continued to work hard and got a deserved equaliser
in the final minute, a dangerous cross from the left was turned in to
the Moostow goal by one of their defenders. A good start and match
workout for the team.
