Ladies presentation evening & they remain in the Jaipur League
Division 1
The ladies held a presentation evening at the Football Club last
week and the winners of the season were presented with their trophies.
The winners from left to right were 'Managers Player Of The Year'
Leona Marsh, Corinne Salt who won 'Most Improved Player' and Mandy
Bickle who won the 'Players Player Of The Year'.
Good news has been
received this week after the Jaipur Womens league AGM. The ladies team
will be continuing their football for the coming season in Division 1.
The Jaipur Cornwall League AGM took place at Roche FC on June 27th,
with 23 teams confirmed for the forthcoming season. With champions
Truro City having moved up to the South West League and Goonhavern
then amalgamating with Truro, no clubs were relegated from Division 1.
Torpoint Athletic and Saltash United were promoted from Division 2,
whilst Penzance Reserves and Wendron dropped into the third. Roche and
St.Breward went up to Division 2, St.Agnes took the third promotion
spot offered, whilst Truro City Reserves were the only newcomers to
Division 3. One name change saw Stoke Climsland become Callington
Town. League fixtures commence on September 2nd. |

New injury hits the club.
Looks like the injury jinx has continued to hit the club.
Sounds like Dave Youlden has broke his ankle and will be in plaster
for the next 6 weeks. If this is right then we wish you all the
best in your recovery Dave and look forward to seeing you back on the
pitch soon. |

New 1st team managers announced.
The new first team manager has been named as Adrian 'Warby'
Warburton along with his new assistant Dean Davis who returns to the
club after a brief playing spell at Holsworthy FC. Coming in
with new ideas and with the youngsters now starting to come through
along with some possible new blood this is promising to be an exciting
seasonRich
Pinkus continues to take charge of the young reserve team and after an
impressive first senior season for a lot of players last season will
be looking for that promotion spot this time round.
Pre season soon boys.
Think training will be starting on 18th July, so better start to lay
off that beer and start getting in to shape now. |

Annual AGM.
The Annual General Meeting was held at the club and what a
smashing start when treasurer Alf Dinshaw sat back on his chair and
smashed a picture which Mrs Hodgson has only just taken up to the
club. A fairly timid AGM with the main points being the 1st team
manager Clive Cornish and assistant Steve Bickle stepping down and
running the 1st team superbly over the previous two seasons. The
youth section it was told had an overall successful season were a
number of teams winning their leagues and cup competitions. It
was also noted that the youth under 16's team were looking for a
manager for the coming season and they were also looking to start an
Under 16's girls team and again were looking for a manager.
The main committee remained the same, but with three new additions,
Jenny Prideaux, Mary (cant think of her surname??) , and young Glen Bickle who I'm sure will
all help in the continued development of this club. The youth
committee also kept a fairly similar committee with Shelly Davis
continuing her hard work as chairperson, Mark Hill as vice chairman
and Adrian Warburton as secretary.
Membership fees, entrance fees and subs have been frozen for the
coming season (maybe because of the successful campaign by 'The Sun'
newspaper to reduce the costs of entrance fees).
If anyone else are
interested in joining the main or youth committee and feel they could
help at the club, please don't hesitate to get in contact. |

Sheila Voaden wins 2nd '200 Club' draw in a year.
Sheila Voadens number 85 must be the luckiest '200 Club'
number going as she was drawn out for the second time this season and
wins £ 300 cash. Sheila was also drawn out for the £ 300 Woolacotts
vouchers back in February and has also won the main car draw prize
twice, in previous seasons.
Chris Hendy was drawn out for the £ 50 accumulator but wasn't at the
draw, so goes up to £ 60 next month. |

Starkey finally receives 1st team award.
Dan Starkey has finally collected his award for first team Player
Of The Year. Dan was unfortunately to ill to attend the presentation
evening but is all fit and well again now.
Here we see Ricki Powell
presenting Dan with the brand new 'Doug Powell' player of the
year trophy. This memorial trophy was kindly donated in the
memory of Doug who recently passed away.
Is Starkey still
growing or what as he seems to be towering over poor old Ricki here??? |
1/6/07.
Congratulations to all winners at presentation evening.
An
enjoyable evening was held at The Falcon Hotel for the presentation
evening of the club. After the meal the presentations were made.
Loads of initial thanks were made to various people who help in
different ways around the club. These included Esme for her kit
washing skills, Jenny for her work in the kitchen, Ann behind the bar,
Shelly and Warbs for their excellent work in the youth section amongst
others. Under 16 player of the year went to Liam Sandercock,
most promising player went to Anthony Giodarni or Gio as he's better
known as, and his old man won Supporter of the year. Club person
of the year went to Ian Watson for his superb help around the club.
Reserve team player of the year was Glen Bickle, the ladies team
hadn't made a decision yet who their player of the year was, hopefully
we will find out shortly. Dan Starkey won the first team player
of the year, but unfortunately was unable to make it due to illness,
manager Clive Cornish accepted the trophy on his behalf.
Ollie Smith then got up and made a superb speech on behalf of the
first team and also presented Steve Bickle with the new 'Ollie Smith'
trophy for winning the friendly footie match played at the end of the
season.
The evenings entertainment then began with Ollie and Greg Snowden
making their way to the dance floor and after a few more beverages the
dance floor started to finally get a bit busier.
Thanks to The Falcon for their superb venue and hospitality and to
Richie Pinkus and Julie for organising the evening. |

Steve Smeeth Wins The 'Fantasy Football Dream Team' League.
Steve
Smeeth came out on top of the Bude Town FC Fantasy Football Dream Team
league, picking up £ 100 in the process. His main man Didier Drogba
came good for him and being top of the league most of the season
deserved his win. Tommy Statton started off slowly but then came
flying up the league and won £ 60 for coming second (Kayleigh said
'for a change'), Hodgson, yes moi, had a pretty consistent season
staying in the top three all season ended up third picking up £ 40.
If you haven't already seen the league you can
click here to view the full top 20 countdown.
Well done and thanks must go to Bullett
for his organisation of the league, hopefully it can be bigger and
better next season. |

United win the cup, Smith's cup anyway!
Steve Bickles' Spurs/Man United Supporters team were victorious in
their friendly match against the favourites of Ollie Smiths
Chelsea/Arsenal team beating them four goals to two. The game
was never going to be 'friendly', with Chris 'Chopper' Hudson on the
pitch and he made his mark inside the first five minutes with a
reckless tackle on a United player. The United side worked hard and
took a 3 goal lead, but Smith put in a typical captains performance
dragging his team back in to the game and took a well taken penalty
early in the second half, they soon pulled another goal back, but
Smiths team then run out of gas and Balsdon wrapped up the scoring for
United with the final goal of the game. The United side
continued their celebrations in the bar afterwards watching the FA Cup
final which unfortunately saw a poor game won by Chelsea scum (I'm not
biased or anything).
Our best wishes go out to
Alf Dinshaw who done a 'Hodgson' and ruptured his Achilles tendon with
just two minutes of the game to go. Alf should be having an operation
early this week and as I know will be in plaster and out of action for
a while, get well soon, Alf. |

Ross Cook wins Travis Perkins vouchers in 200 Club draw .
Ross Cook (Greg
Cooks old man) has won the May '200 Club' draw and receives £ 300
worth of Travis Perkins vouchers. The accumulator draw stood at £ 210
and Mr & Mrs Selbys' names were drawn out and they were actually there
so picked up a tidy sum, just for being at the draw, well done as you
two are always the monthly draw, so deserved it. |

Big game between Smith and Bicks postponed until next week .
The giant Smith versus Bicks footie match has been postponed for this
week, as it's been thought the FA Cup final day would be a better all
dayer at the club. The game should still be in the morning with
food being done for after the game. The bar will also be open and the
FA Cup final between Man Utd and Chelsea will be on the TV there. Come
up for the day and watch United beat Chelsea, on the Broadclose pitch
and at Wembley. |

Emotional Under 16's lose on penalties in cup final.
The Under 16's travelled to St.Blazey for the Luke Cup Cornwall final
and narrowly lost in a penalty shoot out. The team who had a
good following from Bude matched their Helston counterparts and were
2-1 up before Helston equalised towards the end of the game taking it
in to extra time. No goals after the extra period meant penalties and
in the end they lost out with players looking very emotional. It was
difficult with most of the boys having to play games the previous day
and some of them with only 10 men in their team. Well done to
the boys anyway for even reaching the final and the future of the club
looks good with such a good bunch of you lads coming through. |

Steve Bickles' team dealt a blow for upcoming superstar game.
Steve Bickles' squad has been dealt a massive blow before his much
anticipated game against Ollie Smiths Chelsea XI with the news that
Gary Hodgson will be out after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Danny Balsdon also looks likely to miss out after suffering a badly
twisted ankle. In an interview Bickle said " this is such a blow to the team with
such an influential player now ruled out, but we will have try and
make do with what we have got". Smith has also been spoken to
and said "Wiv Hodgson out, we are now clearly favourites, Chelsea!
Chelsea!. Chelsea! Chelsea!" Smith has also stated that he
has never felt fitter for a game and is looking to unleash his pace
and power against an old and unfit Bickle team. Sounds like
fighting talk to me. |

Reserve team lose for the first time in 2007.
The reserve team lost their 1st game of 2007 against a strong Bratting
Fleming team who are currently top of the division, two goals to nil.
The reserves who are currently fourth in the table can still push for
second place if they can win their games in hand and continue well to
the end of the season. It's what this young side deserve, but a
lot of hard work is required for that final push. Keep going
boys. |

April '200 Club' draw winner is Bob Barnett, pool comp also played.
Mr Bob Barnett has won the April 200 club draw and receives £ 300
worth of Woolacotts vouchers. Chris Cornish was drawn out for the
accumulator draw which stood at £ 200 but was not there so it rolls
out for another month.
Following the draw was a couple of pool competitions, the first being
killer pool which started a bit late due a drunk me during up late to
help organise it, I could still see enough of the table to beat all
comers mainly playing wrong handed though( you second teamers really
ought to practise more). The next event was speed pool and the
idea was to see how many balls could be potted in 1 minute, Glen
Bickle took the honours knocking in 12 balls (not bad) and taking home
some pocket money, Smith came close knocking in more than most
players.
There was going to be a darts competition but by this time most the
2nd team had disappeared, hopefully going straight home for a goods
night sleep as they had an important game the following day. |

Ladies win final league game but must now wait to find out their fate.
The ladies team won their final league game by beating second placed
Mullion in the Jaipur Women's league three nil and putting an end to
their recent poor form. Lizzy Jenkins & Leona Marsh were on the
score sheet for Bude. They are now looking forward to next
season already, but must wait until June on their fate as they have
finished second from bottom, so it will depend on whether new teams
come in and/or existing teams pull out. Watch this space.
The ladies team are
also looking for new recruits for next season, so if you are
interested in playing, see to women's section on how to contact them. |

Under 16's through to Cup Final after convincing win
The
Under 16's team have made it through to the Cornwall Cup final after
beating Torpoint convincingly 6-1. Billy Hopcroft (left) and
Scott Wilson grabbed two goals each, and Wes Pugh and Jordan White
also chipped in with one each.
The lads will now meet Helston in the final after they beat Polkerris
in the other semi-final 2-1.
A date etc has not been set yet, but we'll let you know when it is.
Most of these lads have been playing senior men's football throughout
this season, and perhaps this is helping with this competition.
Good luck in the final boys!!! |

Micky Rushbrook Celebrates His 60th
Congratulations to Micky Rushbrook on his 60th birthday. For
some reason he decided to stage a veterans football match against the
reserve team of 1994, I think?? Anyway the veterans experienced
side failed to gel as they went down three nil. Their defence
with a combined age of about 400, sat back way too much, and the lack
of talking from Clive Cornish, Steve Bickle and keeper Alf Dinshaw,
was their undoing, with Dinshaw making a complete hash of the first
goal, his hand to eye co-ordination right out of the window. Clive
Cornish then thought there was no way he would be able to get in the
opponents half to score so scored an own goal instead, with Dinshaw diving like a
fish out of water in an attempt to stop it. The game was wrapped up soon after with a
well taken finish towards the end of the half. A good crowd was
there to watch and celebrations continued after the game in the bar
with a band, some food and probably a few beers. The veterans have
agreed to play again, probably in a couple of years time when they don't ache
anymore and they can strengthen that shoddy defence. Anyway
congratulation Mick. Although 60, lasted longer than
anyone else on the pitch. Well done Mick!!
A few more photos of
the game are now in the gallery. It was difficult to take a
decent picture, with the pace of the game so fast it was hard to keep
the camera still enough and focus properly. |

Reserve Team Go Out In Junior Cup 2nd Round
Bude Reserves went out in the 2nd round to Duchy Premier League
team Dobwalls 3-1. An even first half saw Dobwalls take the lead
with a well taken strike early on from 12 yards out. Bude had their
chances but went in at half time a goal behind. Bude came out
buzzing in the 2nd half and soon equalised with Liam Sandercock not
realising the ball had hit his leg from a great free kick. It
was one way traffic and only Bude looking like winning the tie, but
late on Dobwalls broke quick and the the ball went through to the home
keeper who quickly hit the ball on to striker Colin Barrett who never
misses with an open goal in front of him. Dobwalls wrapped the
game up in the final minute when the home keeper fumbled a long range
strike and the ball dropped over the goal line. Unlucky boys,
you deserves a lot more out of this game. |

Bude were the better side for opening 20 mins and took the lead with a
good move which saw Dan Balsdon score from the edge of the box.
A bad 10 mins saw Bude let four goals in as basic mistakes let in
St.Day. The second half would always be an uphill struggle but
they created plenty of chances but never had that little bit of luck
and let in a couple of late goals and the game finished on 7-1.

Ollie Smith Turns A Bad Day In To A Great Day At '200 Club Draw'
The August 200 Club evening
kicked off with a Committee versus Youth Committee footie match. The
committees' Ollie Smith was the pick of a bad bunch, looking like he's
finally getting his sharpness back. All that was lacking was his
killer instinct in front of goal fluffing a number of clear chances in
front of goal, the committee were then awarded a penalty mid way
through the first half, but had obviously been watching Balsdon too
much in practice as Smith toe poked the ball straight over the bar.
The youth committees had a great pair of strikers up front, I mean
Shelly Davis and the polish international Tracy Wotsnitzka, but they
also had a frustrating evening as wingers Andy Haines and Simon
Chadwick failed to pick them out in the box. The match finished
nil - nil forcing the game in to penalties. The committees Julie
Hodgson was the only player to score as she placed the ball in to
corner with keeper Adrian Warburton only managing to get his finger
tips to it. Smith also missed his second penalty of the day.
Smiths
despair turned to joy as the prize winner for the 'BIG DRAW'
went to none other than guess who, the technical director of Bude FC,
Mr Ollie Smith. Ollie said he may get himself a new car with the £
4,000 won. Congratulations Mr Smith. See the forum for more views on
Smiths win. The accumulator draw would have gone to Mr Michael
Hicks but he was not at the draw so unfortunately lost out on the £
120 on offer, which will now roll over to next months draw.
There are a couple more pictures in the
photo gallery. |

1st Team Miss Out In Opening Game Of The Season
The first team

time lead with goals from Dan Midelton and Tommy Statton. Dan
Balsdon missed an early second half penalty and Tavistock levelled mid
way through the half. Tavistock won the game in the last minute
with a long range effort.
Bude now face another
tough game on Wednesday with a local derby away to Morwenstow who won
their opening game 6-2 against Roche, the kick off will be 6.30pm. |

NEW LOOK WEBSITE
Hope you like the new look website. It's
changed a bit, hopefully for the better. Not entirely changed it
all yet, but should look complete over the next few weeks. No
longer got the 'Question Time' but have replaced this with a forum,
which some of you said you would like to see on here. You can go
and chat and make your points etc, leave messages, you just need to
register your details on there, so make use of it.
By the way, after a few months of our
question of the moment ' Do you think we should relocate the football
club away from Broadclose', we had a good response which found
you lot don't want to move.
Five people, 11% said 'Dont know', 12
people, 26% of the voting said 'Yes', but 30 people, a big 64% of the
voting went with 'No', they do not want the club to relocate from
Broadclose. |

26/6/06. Fashion Show Is A Big Success
A Ladies Fashion Show on Monday 26th June
on behalf of Bude Town Football Club and held at The Falcon Hotel was
a huge success. Over 160 ladies filled the function room to watch the
show organised by Julie Hodgson and Amy Hayes and hosted by Sarah from
'Off The Peg', Sidmouth. They enjoyed nearly an hour of local,
nervous models strutting up and down the catwalk, after which a draw
was made with some top prizes. Then on to the important stuff as
the ladies were allowed to fight their way through the vast range of
clothes modelled earlier on and grab some top bargains on the way.
Although a lot of hard work was put in to the event, £ 948 was
raised for the club. Lots of thanks, The Falcon Hotel for the
use of their function room, Felicty Kates for doing the models makeup,
Alf and Bicks for selling the draw tickets, all the local businesses
in their generosity in providing draw prizes, including Elements
Restaurant, Ginger Q, The Tasty Plaice, Inn On The Green, Felicity
Kates, amongst many others. |
