Bude Town 4-5 St.Blazey
This match was played in a great spirit by both sides and after a
fairly even start St.Blazey scored on 18 minutes, a Stacey Dickenson
scorching volley. Three minutes later, Ayeisha Dyer was brought down
and up stepped Lauren Dowrick to make it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
Just a minute later, Dani Salt completed a good move to reply for Bude.
But with the play now end to end, only another three minutes passed
before Anna Wherry outran the Bude defence to score with a great,
giving St.Blazey a 3-1 half-time advantage, Bude returned intent on
getting back into the game and that is exactly what they did, with
their second goal on 48 minutes and an equaliser after 64 minutes,
through Sarah Badham and Lucy Olde respectively. Again, three minutes
on, St.Blazey were back in front, with another Dickenson strike. Katie
Horstmann squared the match at 4-4 with 17 minutes left, only for a
swift reply, as Dowrick made it 5-4 to St.Blazey. Bude continued to
pressure St Blazey's goal but their defence was solid and when the
whistle went St Blazey were victorious in what can only be described
as a great advert for women's football this match was played in a
truly great sporting manner by both teams.
