Bude would like
to congratulate Patch and Sarah on the birth of their son and
dedicate their 5-3 win to little Kenzie.
Bude played
their first league game of the season away at Torpoint. With a new
look side, Torpoint were full of energy and dominated the first
half, they led after 10 minutes until almost half time when Anita
Symons levelled but Torpoint responded instantly and it was 2-1 at
half time. A rousing half time team talk spurred Bude on and it was
a very different second half. The whole Bude team pulled together
to play some fine football, Adele Birkenshaw worked particularly
hard managing to cancel out Torpoint captain Mandi McCann. The
visitors soon levelled with Katie Horstmann on target and went 2-3
ahead with a Sarah Badham goal. However Torpoint wouldn't give in
and a great shot from outside the box forced an amazing save from
Lizzy Jenkins, unfortunately she did headbut the post as a
consequence but managed to make a double save to deny them again
from the resulting corner. Torpoint did equalise from the following
corner and in an end to end spell both teams looked for a
winner. Katie Horstmann's enthusiasm was spreading throughout the
Bude team and it was her second that put Bude ahead, one on one with
the keeper she was never going to miss. With just 5 minutes to go
Bude were holding onto their lead but Katie Horstmann relieved the
pressure when her cross dropped into the net and earned her her hat
trick. The match finished 3-5
