Bude played Stoke
Gabriel away on Sunday 8th Oct. Stoke took an
early lead but Bude equalised shortly after, Sarah Badham on
target from a neat Anita Symons ball.
The visitors played
some great football and had so many chances, Leanne Stanbury
and Badham will wonder how they didn’t score to take the
lead.
Stoke’s Kat Marment
was a constant concern for Bude but Steph Haydon managed the
threat and any attack was strongly broken down – Bryonie
Lapham making some essential tackles and Lisa Cornish
dominant in her area. Bude were unlucky to concede just
before the whistle from an uncleared corner and it was 2-1
at the break.
The home side piled
on the pressure in the second half and Bude defended in
numbers, Lindsey Ubly running her socks off on the wing.
Unluckily, Bude conceded a penalty and although Lisa Cornish
got fingertips to the shot she couldn’t stop it and it was
3-1. A revitalised Stoke kept coming at Bude and they made
it 4-1 with 10 minutes to go. Bude did not give up and
Badham, Stanbury and Lizzy Jenkins all had shots on goal but
the match finished 4-1.
