Bude
played Saltash on Sunday 21st Sept. In blistering hot conditions
both teams suffered but it was Bude who opened the scoring Sarah
Badham and Katie Horstmann linking up well. However, Saltash took
control of the match immediately after and scored 2 quick goals to
stun Bude. The rest of the first half was an even battle and Bude
were unlucky to suffer another goal conceded just before half time.
After a
stern talk from the manager Bude put more effort into the second
half, with almost all of the possession they had numerous shots on
goal but the Ashes keeper Dan Bradford was on top form. With shots
from all of the midfield and strikers being saved or just going wide
it looked as though it wasn't going to be Bude's day, especially
when a fourth home goal was rebounded in from a close range goal
clearance. With everyone pushing forward and time running out the
Ashes managed to break and win a corner. Bude did not deal with the
danger and the match finished 5-1 to flatter the hosts. A lot of
perspiration, not much inspiration.
