After an appalling under
performance at Launceston on the Thursday, Bude
travelled to Roche on Sunday 25th.
Starting well, Bude were 2-0 up after 10 minutes, Mandy Bickle
and Tegan
Nichols the scorers.
However, Roche broke to pull one back and a deflected cross
resulted in a
Bude own goal to level the scoring. Bude then rallied and
played nice
passing football - as a result goals from Sarah Badham and Leona
Marsh gave
them back the 2 goal cushion. A passionate Steph Haydon
organised
throughout but a scrappy ball in the area was not cleared by
Bude and Roche
managed to make it 3-4 at the break.
Against the wind in the second half Bude had to try harder in
what was a
very physical battle. Nichols netted her second to give some
relief but
once again, Roche would not lie down and their strong presence
gave them
another goal. Katie Horstmann and Leanne Stanbury worked hard in
midfield
and both Nichols and Badham had further shots on goal but it was
Roche who
scored next to make it 5-all. With ten minutes to go a lucky
lob gave the
home side the lead for the first time in the match. Bude pushed
for another
and Badham was flattened in her quest, but she soldiered on and
it was her
magnificent header from a perfect Leanne Stanbury free kick that
finished
the scoring at 6-all.
