With a number of first team
players out Bude knew this was going to be a
tough fixture and it started as it went on - with Argyle on the
attack.
Keeper and Captain Lisa Cornish made a number of good saves before an
excellent lob just tipped in. Despite repeated attacks Bude defended
well
and it was an unfortunate rebound that saw an own goal make it 2-0 to
Argyle. An inch perfect free kick saw Argyle make it 3-0 before the
break
and it looked as though Bude heads had dropped. The second half saw
some
desire come back into the visitors game and they were unlucky not to
pull
one back when what looked like a dead cert penalty was not awarded.
Anita
Symons, Sarah Badham and Adele Birkinshaw were tireless in midfield
and
'teething' Bryher Smeeth had an excellent second half on the right
wing. A
combination of Lisa Cornish saves and Lizzy Jenkins tackles kept the
scoreline down and the visitors were disappointed to let Argyle score
once
more from a scramble in the box. The match finished 4-0 and Bude can
take
heart from a much improved second half performance all round.
