Bude 3
Bude travelled to
Mullion on Sunday 3rd Feb. In boggy conditions both teams struggled to
control the ball but it was the visitors who dominated the match.
Almost all of the possession was with Bude throughout the half, Anita
Symons, Sarah Badham, Katie Horstmann and Sarah Underwood all having
shots just inches wide.
Bude were
determined to come away with a win and the 3 points so they upped
their game in the second half. The constant pressure told and it was
an unfortunate own goal that opened the scoring for Bude. Shortly
after they doubled their lead - a Sarah Badham shot went past the goal
and Katie Horstmann appeared from nowhere to head in at the back post
from an almost impossible angle! This spurred Bude on and full backs
Steph Hayden and Corrine Salt played some fantastic link up football
with the wingers. Centre back Claire Gifford was a rock throughout the
match and in midfield Dell Birkenshaw and Lizzy Jenkins won every
tackle eliminating any Mullion opportunity, but the home side battled
on. This paid off as a through ball found Alice Rae one on one with
keeper Lisa Cornish and it took a fine save to deny Mullion the
consolation goal. The match finished 0-3
