Marazion 1-4 Bude Town
The scorline may have flattered the visitors, following a scrappy
game in which Marazion will rue some early missed chances. They
started the game positively, and camped in the Bude half. Lively
striker Jo Barker was unlucky not to score with a deft lob,
followed by a fine solo run. The Bude goalkeeper stood firm
against some sustained pressure and it was her teamates who
rallied to take the lead. Danielle Salt hit the opener with a
looping shot on Bude’s first attack on goal, This seemed to knock
back Marazion, who despite the constant efforts of midfielder
Linda Vandenberg were unable to claw back a goal before the break.
Bude were on top in a second half full of mistakes on both sides,
as competition for the ball prevented any passing football. Young
Zoe Dyson being one of the highlights for Marazion, with some
controlled play before having to leave the field injured. Sam
Berryman was also able to continue her comeback in the side with
another determined display. Bude however scored again through
Sarah Badham, before a Carly Jacka penalty, following another excellent Barker run,
brought the game back to a point where the result could have gone
either way. Pressing forward Marazion subsequently had to leave
gaps at the back and Bude made it count following two further
goals for Badham, to seal the points.
