Bude 2
Bude came out
fighting in this local derby match - attacking from the start and
unsettling the home side. Dell Birkenshaw bossed the midfield and
Sarah Badham played every position from striker to defence. Chances
were created and denied at each end, both sides having strong
defences holding firm. Cancelling each other out it looked like
remaining goalless in the first 45 but persistence from Bude paid
off - Anita Symons crossed in for Leanne Stanbury to shoot, the
keeper parried and Leona Marsh pounced on the loose ball doing a
one-two with the post before finishing!
The second half
saw both sides play good football, passing was slick and
controlled. Gemma Smith, Anita Symons and Leanne Stanbury linked up
spectacularly. As the standard increased the goalkeepers became more
involved and both had to make some vital saves - Bude keeper Lisa
Cornish displaying some top class keeping as she dominated her
area. It was Bude who took control 15 minutes in as Sarah Badhams
corner was headed in by Anita Symons. With both midfields working
hard the pace increased - Launceston eager to get on the score sheet
pushed forward and with Jill Haines up front this was dangerous for
Bude but with a high line and great communication the visitors
remained calm and saw the game out at 0-2
