Bude 8
Bude travelled to
Dobwalls for the league away fixture on 10th Feb. The home side
showed how they had improved on their recent form by piling on the
pressure from the off and it was Dobwalls who took the lead through
Lucy Borthwick within the first 10 minutes. A startled Bude then
dominated the play and with several corners to the visitors it was
Dell Birkenshaw who headed in the equaliser. Bude's Anita Symons
drove at the Dobwalls defence and scored to take the lead soon after.
The visitors had many more chances throughout the half but just could
not find the net. Dobwalls' young side kept their heads up and looked
for their chances, the equaliser coming from Borthwick just before
half time.
Bude came out for
the second half more determined and Leanne Stanbury scored 2 goals in
quick succession to ease the pressure. With the introduction of Sarah
Badham the pace picked up as she defended from the front winning
tackles and pressurising the Dobwalls defence. A defensive error
gifted Dobwalls their third as Amy Mallard went unchallenged in the
box but their joy was shortlived as Bude went on the attack again.
Leanne Stanbury scored her hat trick shortly after, lofting in from
the right hand wing. Slick play from Anita Symons, Leanne Stanbury,
Sarah Underwood, Lizzy Jenkins and Sarah Badham caused chaos in the
Dobwalls defence and resulted in Anita's second a powerful left footer
into the roof of the net. An unfortunate own goal gave Dobwalls some
hope but with fitness levels telling it was Bude who were more hungry
for goals and Sarah Badham finished with 2 fine goals, her
determination and drive winning through.
