Bude Town 3-0 Mullion
With an accident at training, Becky Hall had been ruled out for Mullion,
who travelled with a bare eleven. Bude's last game of the season brought
the expected tight first half with chances at both ends, The deadlock
was finally broken when pressure from Bude’s Claire Gifford resulted in
an own goal from Becca Wooding. Mullion had opportunities to level with
Emma Hurworth shooting wide and a free kick in the area being blocked
well by Bude captain Lizzy Jenkins. Mullion's Alice Rae used her pace to
create problems for the Bude defence but Sandra Gosling was resolute in
goal and commanded her area well. The home side could have increased
their lead as chances for Claire and Katie Horstmann were unfortunate
and it remained 1-0 at half time.
The second half began with a spell of Mullion pressure and Rae almost
levelled when her header bounced off the crossbar but some frantic
defending by the home side kept them ahead, with up and coming
defenders, Steph Hill and Corrine Salt, playing some amazing football.
It was a Lizzy Jenkins special that made it 2-0, when she walloped the
ball from 30 yards straight into the top left corner. Leanne Stanbury
and Anita Symons ran their socks off as usual and it was Leanne who set
up the third goal, when Zoe West flicked the ball on for Leanne to cross
into the box, where Leona Marsh was waiting to fire it in. It was
fantastic play from the home side who finally seem to be enjoying their
football and are now looking forward to next season!
