Bude 12-1 Goonhavern

Bude played Goonhavern at home in what was their best performance of the season so far. The home side started early with an Anita Symons drive resulting in a goal on 5 minutes. Captain Lizzy Jenkins doubled the lead shortly after and Dani Salt made it 3-0 with a fine shot from the left. Lizzy further increased the score line from a corner with a powerful glancing header beating the keeper. A defensive error gave Goonhavern a break and striker L A Reeks calmly rounded the keeper to pull one back but their joy was short-lived as Anita surged forward from midfield once again and made it 5-1 with a great shot with her less favoured right foot! With the wind behind Bude in the second half it was only minutes before Lizzy scored again but the visitors held their heads high and played some very neat football. Home keeper Sandra Gosling commanded her area and blocked many Goonhavern attempts as they would not give up the attack.
The midfield combination of Lizzy, Anita, Dani and Leona Marsh were impenetrable, Catain Lizzy leading by example with some fantastic tackles ensuring that the ball remained in Bude's possession. Katie Horstmann also worked tirelessly and deserved her goal half way through the second half. Almost immediately after, Dani made it 8-1 when she pounced on a poor goal kick and Leanne Stanbury showed pure class minutes later as she chipped the oncoming keeper from 20 yards. A further spell of Bude pressure resulted in a Katie corner being turned in by Leona and Lizzy made it 11-1 with a curving shot from 30 yards leaving the keeper for dead. Sub Lisa Cornish made an immediate impression playing and winning some great balls and it was one of her corners that went straight in to finish the match 12-1.
