Bude 2- 4 Dobwalls
Dobwalls bounced back to win this encounter, following their
disappointing second half display against Truro City last week. It was
their first ever win (as either Liskeard or Dobwalls) at Broadclose and
ended a long run of poor results on this ground. Both sides were short
of two or three of their better players.
It was Bude who twice took the lead in the first half, but Dobwalls
showed great character to end the half on level terms at two apiece.
Francesca Young grabbed the first equaliser for Dobwalls, only for Bude
to regain the lead straight from the re-start, following excellent work
by the ever persistent and dangerous Danni Salt. Suzzi Porter then
scored the second equaliser, when one of a number of her superb corner
kicks flew straight into the net.
In the second half, Lucy Borthwick, who had crashed a great shot into
the Bude upright in the first half, scored from wide on the right to
make it 3-2. This caused Bude to press more players forward and more
gaps began to appear in their defence. Jade Hankinson, playing on the
right wing, in place of injured Lucy Rigby, had a great match and
clipped the Bude cross bar with a fine shot as the game opened up. Then,
Amy Rigby was able to race forward and put in a dangerous cross from the
left, which was turned into her own net by a Bude defender to make it
4-2, sealing the result in Dobwalls favour.
