Bude came out 7-1 winners in a
friendly held at Bideford on Sunday 8th
August. In very hot conditions manager Aaron Westlake tried out a new
formation which paid off. Katie Horstmann took the lead for Bude
after a
great Sarah Badham cross, and wingers Bryher Smeeth and Bryonie Lapham
worked
hard to send in repeated attacks for the visitors. Bideford levelled
on the
break, a well placed lob just beating keeper Lizzy Jenkins. However,
Bude
responded well, hard work and slick passing from the midfield resulted
in
Bude scoring 3 more before the break - 2 from Badham and another from
Horstmann. The manager switched the formation again in the second
half and
with Dani Salt and Leanne Stanbury in centre mid, they cut out any
potential
threat and converted it to a Bude attack.
All 13 players worked well and with confidence rising, some superb
football
was played. Zoe West and Reanne Westlake enjoyed their game in
defence and
as Bude pushed on, Zoe West scored a goal herself, a fine looping
volley
from a corner. Further goals from Dani Salt and Badham finished the
match.
