Bude 0
Plymouth Argyle 3
Bude played Plymouth Argyle
Reserves in the Bristol Soccerworld Cup on
Sunday 7th Dec. With the visitors temporarily beginning with 10, the
game
started with the advantage to Bude. The home side pressured Argyle
and
created many chances, Anita Symons worried the defence and crossed in
some
super balls. Steph Hayden was in a determined mood at right back and
linked
up well with Leona Marsh. Leanne Stanbury and Sarah Badham also had
chances
but could not find the net. After 20 minutes Arglye were back to 11
and
introduced first team player Katie Middleton who made an instant
impact.
Linking up with Paula Pearce she scored 2 goals before half time to
knock
Bude. After the break the home side upped their game to a new level
and
with the introduction of 'Jetski' Rory Birkenshaw the pace was
increased.
Leanne Stanbury came close when her shot just went wide of the open
goal and
Sarah Badham's shot ricocheted off the bar and post only to bounce
out.
Gemma Smith played her socks off in defence, denying Middleton and
Pearce
but it was a through ball to Rhianne Parsons that finished Bude off,
placing
her shot past the reach of keeper Lisa Cornish. Game finished 0-3 but
a
fine performance nonetheless from a Bude side that would not give up.
