Wadebridge 0 Bude 3
Although missing a few
players Bude still put out a strong starting lineup against against a
Wadebridge team playing their first game of the season. Wadebridge
took a bit of time getting in to the first half which Bude edged and took
a one nil half time lead. The goal coming on the half hour mark, striker
Jason Veale got a cross in low from the right which went loose inside the
6 yard box and Gary Hodgson was waiting to tap in. Bude looked more
in control in the second half and soon doubled their lead, keeper Gary
Dinshaws' long punt up field to Tommy Statton who didn't miss a header all
night flicked in to the path of partner Veale who ran through and shot low
in to the bottom left corner. Wadebridge reacted well and went looking to
reduce the arrears, they came close when a looping shot caught the top of
the crossbar and another was a close range shot which Dinshaw superbly
saved low down. After 80 minutes Bude put the game beyond Wadebridge when
the home keepers poor kick fell straight to Veale who ran on and punished
the mistake with his second of the game.
