East Cornwall Div
1 League
St.Blazey 2 Bude 3
Bude won 3-2 for
the 2nd week running and ended St.Blazey’s unbeaten home
record. Bude went behind early on when a Steve Wearne corner came
in from the left, Bude keeper Gordon Wint went down early to gather
but the ball caught his leg and in to the back of the net.
St.Blazey then had a long-range lob hit the far post. After being
under the cosh for the opening 15 mins Bude then dominated the half
and were rewarded for their efforts after 30 mins when Gareth Martyn
made a rare outing in to the opponents half and was brought down in
the box by defender Will Tinsley as Martyn knocked the ball past
him. Dan Balsdon made no mistake with his best-taken penalty of the
season. Bude came close soon after when a Jason Ferrett cross-field
pass picked out Tommy Statton perfectly in the box who volleyed just
over the bar. Bude took the lead after 65 mins when Statton was put
through on goal and he lobbed the St.Blazey keeper. The home team
levelled 10 mins later after Gary Hodgson brought a player down on
the edge of the box. Wearnes’ 20 yard free kick flew straight in to
the far top right corner. Five mins from time the game was won with
the move of the game, superb football between Billy Hopcroft and
Statton down the left saw Statton square the ball in to the path of
substitute Stevie Box who smashed the ball in from 10 yards. |
