Duchy Premier League
St Blazey 0 Bude 2
On the lush field at Blaize Park, Bude produced a comfortable win
against a very young St Blazey outfit. They went one nil up mid way
through the half when Gary Dinshaw whipped in a low cross from the left
hand side across the six yard box, the Bude strikers failed to get any
real contact on the ball and the Blazey defence failed to clear the danger
properly as the ball fell to Tommy Statton who hit a sweet low shot past
the keeper. St. Blazeys’ only real chance was a 30 yard effort which Bude
keeper Ben Purcell reacted well with to tip over the bar. The 2nd
half saw Bude again take complete control, knocking the ball around well
and rarely venturing out of third gear, which could have been their
undoing as Blazey started to create small spells of danger, but Budes’
centre backs Wayne Cornish and Gareth Martin were on superb form and left
back Jamie Hopcroft produced two excellent and important tackles during
the half. Bude finally got a deserved second goal in the 75 min, Simon
Chadwick clearing a header from defence up to Statton who turned and laid
the ball in to the path of Gary Hodgson who with the outside of his boot
struck the ball low past the advancing keeper and wrap the game up.
