League Match

Saltash 0    Bude 1

In a closely fought contest it was Bude who came away with the spoils. The first half saw few chances from both sides in slippery conditions, Budes back three of Jessy James, Wayne Cornish and Dan Starkey were solid, stopping any slight chance Saltash looked to create, but Saltash were equally up to the task off snuffing out Budes attacks. It wasn't until the 70 minute when Bude took the lead, a free kick on the left saw Stevie Box square his kick along the edge of the box, Craig Thompson fired in low with his left and Gary Hodgson flicked it in from 6 yards out. Saltash looked to have equalised when a striker got put in on goal, defender James went with him, put in a last ditch tackle, caught the ball but knocked it past the outcoming keeper Gary Dinshaw, with it rolling goalwards, Cornish raced back and slid to make a superb goal line clearance. Bude soaked up late Saltash pressure well and looked to make it two nil after a great run from Tommy Statton saw him with the ball on the edge of the box and looking for that wonder strike saw his shot end up closer to the corner flag than the back of the net !!
