East Cornwall League Game

Roche 1    Bude 1

Bude started brightly enough and nearly opening the scoring in the 1^st minute when Dan Middleton struck from the left only to see his shot rebound off the far post.  Roche slowly got into the game and was it was fairly even for most of the half. With very few chances coming along it was on half time when Roche should have taken the lead when Clive Allen ran on to a through ball only to see him blast his shot high and wide of the near post.  Roche came out strong for the start of the second half and after 55 mins took the lead, Allen played a one-two with a team mate and was put through down the left, he took his time as he weaved left and right, then cut inside to the right and smashed his strike in to the far corner of the net.  As the game went on Bude pushed an extra man from defence in to midfield and this started to put Roche on the back foot. After 75 mins Bude were awarded a free kick 25 yards out.  Chris Ward bent a superb free kick in to the top right hand corner to level the game.  Bude pressed for the final 15 mins and nearly snatched the win in the last minute.  Dan Starkey rose to head a corner goal wards but hit the crossbar, the rebound fell to Tommy Statton who couldn’t get enough power on it and the ball hit a defender on the goal line and was cleared to safety.
