1st Team Match Report

Bude Town FC match report for 1st team fixture

League Match

Plymouth Parkway 6    Bude 2

Bude slumped to their heaviest league defeat against newly crowned league champions Plymouth Parkway and it put a huge dent in their promotion quest.  After losing left back Dan Middleton in the opening couple of minutes with a face injury Bude found themselves one nil down when a Kirk Smith corner bent in under the goal, keeper Gary Dinshaw punched the ball on to his own crossbar and in to the net.  Dinshaw was at fault for Parkways second after 20 minutes when a through ball saw Dinshaw try kicking the ball clear from the edge of his box, but he missed the ball and Smith ran through for an easy tap in.  Bude slowly found their game towards the end of the half but couldn't trouble the home keeper.  Bude started the second half brightly but went further behind after 50 minutes. Smith grabbed his hat trick from 25 yards when a well hit shot moved and swerved in the air this time giving Dinshaw no chance.  Bude saw some hope when they pulled one back, substitute Ian Marks fired on to the post, it rebounded to him and he squared to Tommy Statton for a simple finish.  It was going to be Parkways day though when a Lewis Young shot accidentally hit the legs of Smith and the ball trickled in to the opposite side where Dinshaw had already dived to save the initial effort. Ross Avery beat the Bude offside trap to run through and fire home Parkways fifth after 70 minutes.  Phil Daniels scored Parkways sixth goal in the eightieth minute and in the final minutes Marks stroked a pass from Statton in to the bottom right corner.  Wit a minutes remaining a Parkway player was sent off for a second yellow card and then shown a straight red for words said as he was leaving the pitch.  With just three games left Bude will now be looking to win them all and hope St.Stephens who are a point above them in second place slip up in their final games.
