Morwenstow 1 Bude 3
This was a very tight affair
with both teams having their own share of possession. Bude started the
brighter in the first half and went one nil up mid way through with Steve
Smeeth scoring from close range after a corner had come in from the right.
They soon went two up when Stevie Box broke down the right wing, got to
the by-line and cut the ball back to about 8 yards out where Luke Potter
smashed the ball down the middle of the goal with his left boot. Bude
continued to looked dangerous, especially from corners, but couldn't get
that third goal required to kill the game off. Morwenstow came much more
in to the game through the second half and they were now looking the more
dangerous, also from corners and set pieces. They deservedly reduced the
arrears on the hour when the ball was picked up 20 yards out and it was
chipped straight in to the top right corner of the Bude net. The home team
looked for the equalizer with Norman Foster coming close on a couple of
occasions and Jamie Etherington putting a long range strike on to the
crossbar. Bude increased their lead with 5 minutes remaining, Gary Hodgson
looped a through ball over the heads of the defence to Dan Balsdon on the
left and he quickly bent his right foot shot in to the top right corner
and putting the game out of Morwenstows reach.
