League Match
Liskeard 3 Bude 4
Bude
showed superb character in this league fixture to come back from 3-1 down
to win the game in the last minute.
Liskeard started with immense determination closing down any Bude play
instantly and attacked the Bude back line at pace, but it was Bude who
opened the scoring after 5 minutes, the ball was picked up by Tommy
Statton just inside the Liskeard half and from 40 yards chanced his luck
and struck a sweet low drive which found the bottom left corner and saw
the keeper stuck to his line watching it fly in. Liskeard didn't bat
an eyelid and continued their high work rate and were soon rewarded with
an equaliser, some fast flowing football allowed Carl Flintoff to score
from just inside the box. After 20 minutes they took the lead, Ed Bradshaw
ran on to a defence splitting pass and neatly scored in to the right
corner. Liskeard went further ahead after 30 minutes, Bradshaw was again
played in the box by Mike Norman and he clipped the ball back low past
keeper Gary Dinshaw and in for his second. Just before half time
Bude got a lifeline when Billy Hopcroft was brought down in the box, he
duly stepped to score from the spot. Bude played about with the
formation for the second half and it seemed to have the desired effect as
Bude upped the tempo and reversed their fortunes of the first half, Bude
equalised after 70 minutes, some great football saw a one two with
defender Josh Allen who continued his run and from the edge of the box
struck a clinical shot in to the right corner. Both teams at the end had
chances to win the game, Hopcroft twice put good chances wide of the post.
With time ticking away, Statton was caught late in the box and again the
referee pointed to the spot. Jason Ferrett had the nerve to take the
penalty and coolly put the keeper the wrong way.
