Lanreath
extended their unbeaten run to 8 games with this hard fought
two nil win against Bude. In blustery conditions Bude played
the much better football in the first half against the wind
and created various chances but couldn’t find the net.
Lanreath were mainly restricted to long-range efforts, but
were dangerous from set pieces and it was a corner that saw
them take the lead. A short corner was taken midway through
the half and a resulting cross from the right picked out Peter
Bailey who with his back to goal, turned his marker and fired
in a left foot strike. After the break and with the wind in
their favour Bude should have put Lanreath on the back foot
much more than they did but after 10 mins a determined
Lanreath side looked on top and created more chances than they
did in the first half with Gordon Wint called in to action
making a couple of saves from Steve Crumpler and then Nick
Bailey. Lanreath doubled their lead in the 80th
min when Nick Bailey was put through on goal, but looked like
he handled the ball as it was knocked past the out coming
keeper, Bailey square the ball across the six yard box for
Crumpler who had a simple tap in.
