League Cup Match
Tavistock 2
Bude 3
It took Bude 15 minutes to realise
they were playing a mid week football match and soon went one nil down
when Tavi scored from close range. This was a wake up call for the
young Bude side and they soon levelled the game when the ball was played
through midfield to striker Tommy Statton who calmly lobbed the on-coming
keeper. Tavi re-took the lead when a Bude goal kick was headed sharply
back from a Tavi defender and Bude defender Liam Sandercock chasing back
couldn't quite catch the Tavi striker who ran on to score with keeper Gary
Dinshaw almost keeping the shot out with his feet. Bude however kept
their heads up and soon equalised when some sharp thinking saw Stevie Box
take a quick free kick and Billy Hopcroft was alert to run through, round
the keeper and slot the ball away. The second half was evenly
matched with both teams playing some neat football and as it looked as
though the game would finish even, Stevie Box picked the ball up out on
the left with minutes remaining, cut inside and unleashed a sweet strike
which hit the far post, bounced across the goal line, off the other post
and in for Budes winner.
