Cup Match

Polperro 4     Bude 5

This was certainly a game of two halves in this league cup tie. Bude opened the scoring in the first five minutes, Tommy Statton slotting in from close range. First division leaders Polperro were soon level, Rob Spencer put through on the left and he struck low in to the right corner. A mistake led to Zak Peel snatching the ball and scoring Polperros' second. The home team continued to dominate the half adding two further goals from Spencer and Peel. The second half completely changed, Budes all round game improved 100% as they ran riot throughout. They pulled one back after 55 minutes, Glen Bickle played the ball in to the feet of Statton on the edge of the box who flicked the ball through to full back Josh Allen who shot early in to the corner. After 70 minutes another goal for Bude came when a long through ball from Robbie Pearce found the run of winger Stevie Box who smashed a half volley down the middle of the goal. Bude levelled the score in the 80th minute, a Polperro player handled in the box and a penalty was given. Pearce put the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Another penalty minutes from the end was awarded to Bude after a clear push on Adam Smith, Pearce calmly tucked the penalty in to the opposite corner to record a superb comeback and turnaround in fortunes for Bude who progress to the second round.
