Points were
shared in this entertaining group game, which saw Bude take
the lead after 15 mins when a Tommy Statton through ball saw
Dan Balsdon score in to an empty net. Padstow equalised when
a ball in from the left saw a scrabbled goal finally scored
through Kevin Murt. Padstow took the lead early on in the
second half through Martin Rickard before Balsdon was brought
down in the box at the other end and Statton scored from the
penalty spot. Padstow then won a penalty after Gary Hodgson
held back a Padstow player in the box and from the spot
Rickard fired down the middle, only for keeper Gary Dinshaw to
pull off a superb one armed save. Midway through the have
Padstow did take the lead again when Murt cut in from the
right and tucked away a left foot strike at the near post.
Sub Wes Pugh came on to lift the Bude side and equalised after
receiving the ball on the edge of the box, turning and placing
his shot in to the corner. Bude nearly won the game in the
final minute when Balsdon was put in one on one with the
keeper, but his strike just clipped the keepers’ foot and went
inches wide of the post. |
