League Cup Match
Morwenstow 3
Bude 3
The second derby between these two again finished
even with an exciting game. Bude opened the scoring when Dan Midelton
broke the home defence on the edge of the box and smashed the ball down
the middle of the goal. Morwenstow replied on 20 minutes when a long
ball to striker Djamel Boushala was headed back just outside the box and
Eddie Yeo shot first time giving keeper Gary Dinshaw no chance. Bude
lost their shape, their heads went down, and after 35 mins were three-one
down, Herbie Goodgroves getting down the right delivering a perfect cross
which Danny Gifford scored with a diving header, and their third was scored
with an Adam James header from a set piece. Bude pulled one back just
before half time when Midelton and Steve Box linked well and saw Box put
in on goal to score inside the near post. On the hour Moostow looked
to have extended their lead when a shot was spilled low by Dinshaw to Boushala
who
scored but he was ruled offside and the goal was disallowed. Boushala continued to argue his case for the next few minutes and was then
red carded by the ref for abusive language towards the linesman.
Bude had enough chances in the last 20 minutes to comfortably win the game
with Liam Sandercock, Dan Starkey and Midelton all coming close but the
home keeper was in superb form. With the points looking to be
heading to 'The Greens', Goodgroves brought down Steve Box inside the
area. Norman Foster equalised from the spot with minutes left in
what ended a fairly even contest.
