League Cup Match
Launceston 3
Bude 2
The first half was a fairly slow
affair with the baking sun sapping the players energy, but Bude were on
the back foot quite a bit although both teams failed to create any clear
cut chances. All the goals came in the second period and Bude who
came out stronger in this half drew first blood on the hour. A Steve
Smeeth free kick just outside the box clipped Stevie Box on the way
through, hit the post and young Box reacted to knock in the rebound.
This goal kicked the home side in to action and soon equalised when James
Turner got down the left and cut the ball across goal for Andrew House to
score. A stunned Bude were soon behind when Shaun Turner neatly controlled
the ball outside the Bude box and was given too much time to pick his spot
which he duly took to slot his shot in to the bottom right corner.
Things could have been different as Budes' Billy Hopcroft put Smeeth clear
of the defence, and with just the keeper to beat sliced a shot just
outside the area wide of the goal. Lansons' House grabbed his second
and Lansons third in the 75th min when he ran through and neatly finished
past unlucky keeper Gary Dinshaw who had made a few superb saves
throughout the game. Bude came back strong for the last 15 mins and
striker Hopcroft reduced the arrears when he worked hard to get past three
defenders and finished with a deadly strike from the right.
