League Cup Match
Bude 0
Tamarside 1
Bude replied to their dismal display
at Camelford last week to compete well against an organised Tamarside
team. Bude matched the Premier league high flyers to the final
whistle. The game was a tight affair with players from both sides being
given no room to play flowing football but they both done their best to
play football as it should be played. Bude created the better
chances in the first half with Tommy Statton having the best when left
completely free in the box from a corner but he couldn't guide his header
goal wards. Chris Ward soon after also had a good opportunity to
take the lead with his head but again couldn't connect properly. The
second half continued at a high tempo with both sides desperate to find a
way through each others defences, Budes young central midfielders Glen
Bickle and Antony Giordarni working tirelessly to break down any moves.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 75th minute when a 30 yard strike
from Tamarsides Dale Wheeler was saved by keeper Matt Warburton, the ball
fell in to the path of James Cordon, Warburton dived at his feet to save
again, but whilst on the ground Cordon reacted to scoop the loose ball in
the net. Bude piled on the pressure for the final minutes but
couldn't find that killer touch to take the game in to extra time.
