Padstow 4
Bude failed to
capitalise in the opening exchanges, as four of five one on one
chances weren’t taken. Padstow didn’t need asking twice as they
scored midway through the half with one of their first chances
through Martin Rickard. They soon went two up when they scored
direct from a corner, Chris Allen crossed, and a mix up in the box
saw the ball bounce straight in to the goal. Bude however showed
some grit with Tommy Statton pulling Bude back in to it with a well
taken left foot strike and Stevie Box then got pulled down in the
box to give Bude a penalty which Dan Balsdon duly converted. The
half time whistle came to quickly for Bude and when they came out
seemed to go back in to their shell and with Padstow using the wind
to their advantage took the lead again with a superb strike from
Rickard who turned his marker on the corner of the box and placed to
the ball in to the far top corner. A speculative shot from 40 yards
from Padstows’ Allen saw the ball fly straight down the middle of
goal lobbing keeper Gordon Wint for his second of the game.
