League Cup Match
Bude 2
Launceston 2
On quite a hot day both teams played
at a high tempo and home side took the lead midway through the half when a
Steve Box cross from the left saw midfielder Chris Ward get beyond the
Lanson defence and volley in. Launceston reacted well and were soon
level, a good move down the right ended with the ball chipped back to
Andrew House who buried his header from 10 yards out. The visitors
took the lead just before half time when awarded a free kick just outside
the Bude box, wing back Paul Banks bent his shot around the wall off the
near post and in. Happy that the interval soon came Bude came out in
the second half with much more purpose and started to cause more problems
for the Lanson side than they did for the latter part of the first.
Bude equalised with 20 mins remaining when Budes' Ward struck a quickly
taken free kick at goal just outside the visitors box, the keeper
scrambled across but couldn't keep the effort out. Bude had
chances to win the game in the final 10 mins with Billy Hopcroft hitting
the cross bar with a volley from a corner, but Lanson were resolute
in their defending to earn themselves a deserved point.
