4 Camelford 1
Bude were made to work in
the first round of the league cup against a Camelford team who are a
league below. Although Bude had a great percentage of the ball
Camelford were difficult to break down as they got body's behind the ball
for every Bude attack. Camelford although having few chances had the
best chance of the half when a player was put through one on one down the
right but Bude keeper Gary Dinshaw made a superb save down low to keep the
scoreline level going in at half time. After 50 minutes Bude took
the lead, striker Billy Hopcroft picked the ball up just outside the box,
quickly moved it to his right and struck his shot in to the bottom left
corner. The lead was short lived when Bude gave away a penalty, the
Camels keeper Stuart Hill came up to equalize from the spot. Bude
began to switch up a gear and and took the lead again with a great move,
Stevie Box out of the left passed to Hopcroft on the edge of the box and
he in turn played in Jason Ferrett on the right and from just inside the
box placed his shot in to the far top left corner. Budes' Robbie Pearce
was then denied a goal when a close range header was well saved by Hill,
but it wasn't long before Bude increased their lead with Hopcroft scoring
his second. Bude wrapped the tie up after 80 minutes when a Stevie
Box solo run down the left saw him cut inside and a low shot went
underneath the body of Hill seeing Bude through to the 2nd round where
they will be visiting either Lanreath or Elburton Villa.
