League Match
Bude 4 Tavistock 4
A goal fest at
Broadclose saw this game finish four goals a piece. Bude dominated much
of the first half with a strong wind behind them and created half a dozen
one on one opportunities to score but failed with Jason Ferrett, Greg Cook
(back after being out of the game for a couple of years), defender Gareth
Martyn all missing early chances and the best one fell to Stevie Box who
blazed over the bar from yards out with the goal at his mercy. Tommy
Statton finally got Bude off the mark from the penalty spot after Cook had
been brought down in the penalty area. Tavistock equalised soon after
when Chris Faulkner broke down the left in to the box, shot past the
outcoming home keeper Gordon Wint, Gary Hodgson cleared off the line
straight in to the keepers back and the ball fell to Faulkner for a simple
tap in. Bude regained the lead when a right wing cross was flicked on by
Cook in the box and Statton poked in his second of the game. Minutes
before half time though Tavistock equalised again when a 30 yard shot from
Kev Nicholls was deflected off defender Martyn and in to the goal. Bude
worked hard in the second half against the wind and took the lead again
with some individual brilliance from Ferrett, he dragged the ball inside
from the left wing, beat his marker and from just inside the box smashed a
shot inside the near post. Tavistock came back again when a deep cross
was met by Pete Gibson who got in front his marker and volleyed in,
Tavistock soon took the lead for the first time from a free kick just
outside the box, Gordon Wint saved the shot but couldn’t hold on to it and
Tommy Rawlinson reacted to score. Budes Gary Dinshaw, out injured for the
last two months returned to the team and earned a draw as he bagged the
final goal of the game with a well taken left foot strike.
