League Match
Bude 0
St.Stephen 4
Bude didn't start the day well with
Gary Dinshaw having to replace keeper Matt Warburton before the start who
was too ill to play. Within 15 minutes Bude had used up their two
substitutions with defender Dan Starkey injuring his already suspect toe
in a challenge. Although at a fairly slow pace and with the wind
behind them Bude created the better chances in the opening half, mainly
from dangerous corners but no one could finish off some great crosses.
They were made to pay in the second half for those chances as St.Stephens
now used the wind to assist their charge against the home team and Bude
were three down in 15 minutes. Martin Matthews with their first
scrambling in a close range effort after Dinshaw had saved a previous shot
on the line, then Nick Bailee made it two with a glancing header.
Craig Coad grabbed their third with his head and then a strange second for
him when a team mate shot from 25 yards out only to see the ball ricochet
off Coads head who wasn't really looking and in to the opposite corner.
This completely stunned Bude who tried to retrieve something from the game
but everything they tried didn't come off and St.Stephens went away with a
comfortable victory and still in with a chance of winning the league
title.
