League Match
Bude
3 St.Stephen 1
Bude got a comfortable
victory from this evening game against lowly St.Stephen. The first
half was nil-nil though and the spirited visitors done their best to
contain Bude as long as they did. James Giodarni stepped in at left
back and he lasted all of 20 seconds when team mate Luke Potter and Gio
both went to head a throw in, but Potters elbow caught the left back flush
on the nose and he had to be substituted after breaking it along with his
cheekbone. Early in the second half the next thing was broken, and that
was the score line, Hopcroft was put in on goal and side footed it past
the keeper. He soon doubled Budes lead, a ball played in to new dad
Tommy Statton and a deft flick played in Hopcroft who ran on, rounded the
keeper, and tucked it away with his left foot. Hopcroft rounded off
a good performance when Antony Giodarni played a ball up to him and
he was hacked down in the box, although injured he picked himself up to
put the keeper the wrong way from the spot and complete his hat-trick.
Hopcroft was then substituted, and 16 years old keeper Sam Kingscott came
on to mark his 1st team debut, while current keeper Gary Dinshaw was put
up front to try and reproduce those old days as a lethal striker.
St.Stephen never game up and piled on a lot of late pressure, defender
Wayne Cornish though made block after block to keep them at bay.
They did eventually score in the last minute though the ball fell nice in
the box from a corner and a half volley was smashed in to the roof of the
net from 10 yards out.
