League Match
Bude 11 St.Newlyn
East 1
Bude completely dominated against a St.Newlyn team who
had to draft in some reserve team players to their squad the same morning.
Bude themselves had players out but even though going behind early on,
they didn't look like they were going to lose this match. Bude could have
been three or four nil up in the first 10 minutes as Bude created chance
after chance but they couldn't get the ball in the back of the net.
St.Newlyn though took the lead after a cross from the left found Martin
O'Brien free at the back and he slotted low in to the corner. It was
becoming frustrating for Bude as other chances went begging, they finally
equalised midway through the half when a shot on to crossbar rebounded to
James Giodarni who shot in to the keepers face, again came out and Tommy
Statton this time volleyed in to the back of the net. Bude soon took the
lead with Antony Giodarni following up a saved shot to score just yards
out. Statton then grabbed his second to take Bude in to a 3-1 half
time lead. Bude came out after the break in top gear and soon increased
their lead through Billy Hopcroft and Statton got his hat-trick running
through on goal and cheekily chipping over the keeper. St.Newlyn
were then reduced to 10 men after foul and abusive language from a player
who then mooned at the crowd. Bude were relentless though as they
went 8-1 up with substitutes Simon Chadwick scoring two near post goals
and Gary Hodgson rising to head in a cross from the right. Stevie
Box got in on the act, Hopcroft grabbed his second and Statton added his
fourth to the tally to finish off one of the most comprehensive victory's
the club has seen.
