League Match

Bude 4    Sticker 2

Bude won this hard fought match against a very strong Sticker side. Bude came out well in the opening period and were one nil up after 10 minutes, a quick one two between Wes Pugh and Steve Box saw Pugh rifle in a cross from the right and Sticker defender Andrew Avery forced to get something on it headed back past his own keeper. Bude soon doubled the lead, a Sticker defender kicked a clearance off his own team mate and Box reacted to pick the ball up, round the keeper and tuck it away with his left. Bude could have increased their lead further when a flicked header in to Steve Smeeth saw him hook a shot on to the crossbar. After 30 minutes Sticker pulled it back when a 40 yard sweet strike by Lewis Prince completely deceived keeper Gary Dinshaw, swerving like a beach ball past him in to the net. Sticker were stronger in the second half and Bude were struggling at times to push forward. Sticker deservedly equalised when a corner from the right was met low by Craig Coad who fired in from 10 yards out. Bude rode their luck a bit as Sticker clipped the cross bar and two or three other strikes flew past the post. In the 80th minute a counter attack from Bude saw Smeeth put in a deep cross from the right, Gary Hodgson headed back, on to a defender and in to the path of Adam Smith who smashed low inside the post. The game was done and dusted in the final few minutes, Smeeth was put in on goal and neatly shot past the keeper.
