League Match
Bude 1
Roche 1
Bude had the worst start possible
going one nil down after just 15 seconds. Roche played the ball
through the middle of the park, and got lucky when a cleared ball struck
striker Carlos Wright and looped over the keeper Gary Dinshaw and just off
the underside of the bar. Bude struggled to recover during the half
and although neither side created many chances for the next 40 minutes
Roche had the slight edge. Roche had the chance to double
their lead early in the second half when the referee spotted a handball by
a Bude defender from a corner but Dinshaw guessed the right way to pull
off a superb stop from a Chris Julian penalty. Bude started to come
in to the game more and more, and the introduction of substitute Jamie
Hopcroft seemed to add that spark Bude were lacking. Jamie Kirkland
started to boss midfield with some meaty challenges, and Bude equalised in
the 75th minute when a cross from the right picked out an unmarked
Hopcroft who scored with a spectacular flying volley. He nearly scored a
second soon after when another cross from the right saw him head just wide
of the right hand post. Bude were now a different team and looked
dangerous every time they broke forward but could not find that
elusive winner and were held to their third draw on the trot.
