League Match
Bude Town 2 Plymouth Parkway 0
Bude earned a massive three
points against league leaders Plymouth Parkway as they stopped the leagues
top goalscorers from finding the back of the net for the first time this
season. Parkway came out strong from the opening whistle stretching
Bude down the wings but final balls in to the box were being dealt with
well by the back line. Bude were forced to change things around
after just 25 minutes when a collision of players saw Budes Liam
Sandercock taken to hospital with a broken collar bone. Both teams
were working tirelessly to gain advantage but an even first half's only
real chance came when a cross come shot from Parkway clipped off the top
of the bar. Bude started the brighter in the second half and soon
opened the scoring, Parkways right back failed to clear a ball as he
tripped over himself, allowing Budes Wes Pugh to slide a shot low in to
the far right corner. Bude were now on top but couldn't find that second
goal and as the half went on Parkway started pushing more men forward
which Bude took time to handle, Parkway came close to equalizing after 75
minutes when a James Pearce drive came off the underside of the crossbar.
Bude got their cushion of a second goal in the 85th minute when a Steve
Box cross came low in to the box from the right, a defender again
misjudged and failed to clear the ball as it fell to Dan Middleton who
slotted it in through the goalkeepers legs. A superb all round
performance from the Bude squad who will be hoping they can continue that
sort of form for the reaminder of the season.
